Subjects were 14 female volleyball college athletes. Psychological sports ability was measured by DIPCA.3 (Diagnostic Inventory of Psychological Competitive Ability for Athletes). Subjects’ mental state was measured seven or six times over approximately one month using the PCI (Psychological Conditioning Inventory) during spring and fall league game periods. The coach’s estimation of performance levels and physical and mental condition was also recorded during the two periods. Changes of group mean were computed. Qualitative data from 3 case studies also examined changes in mental state. The results were as follows: 1. Group general changes (1) Spring league period Before the last game of the league, General Activity, Skill Efficacy, Fighting Spirit, Expectation Cognition, and Emotional Stability showed increases. Negative scales such as Game False Anxiety and Fatigue showed decreases. (2) Fall league period After the final league game, Skill Efficacy scores decreased and Game False Anxiety scores increased. (3) Comparison of spring and fall leagues Average Skill Efficacy was lower in the fall league period than in spring. In the spring league period, Skill Efficacy scores increased before the final game, and increased further after the final game. However in the fall league period, Skill Efficacy scores showed no increase before the final game, and decreased after the final game. 2. Individual changes Athletes’ changes in mental state showed parallel relationships to other factors such as physical and mental condition, events, performance level., この論文は「鹿屋体育大学学術研究紀要」(37号,2008年9月,p.17-30)に掲載された論文を修正し、『研究論文集-教育系・文系の九州地区国立大学間連携論文集-』Vol.2 No.2(2009.3)に採択されたものである。}, volume = {2}, year = {2009} }
